Film Titles and Logo

Seven:
The opening to 'Seven' cuts from various shots of someone putting together something that looks like a scrapbook and the titles of the people involved in the film. I like how they've made the titles shake as if they are glitches. I think this would be good for our film as it would create suspense and would introduce the doppelganger into the story so that the audience doesn't get confused later on in the film. We could instead of making just the text glitch, we could also make some of the transitions have this effect as well to keep the scene consistent. I also like how the text is on a plain black background with white writing as this makes the writing stand out more from the background because of the high contract between the shades.

The Ward:
I chose this title to look at because of the simplicity of the title font and background. They have used a plain black background and white writing. This is effective because the writing contrasts against the background so that the title stands out. The font also gives us inspiration for what font we would like to use because it isn't complex but it is still different to classic fonts. I think this would be a good font to use for our product as it has a slight sinister look to it but it's subtle.

Ideas for Our Titles:
I think for our titles, we want to keep the font and colour scheme simple like the examples above. This is because horror films don't need complex titles to appear scary. Because our film doesn't involve a lot of violence, titles like 'Insidious' wouldn't be appropriate because it would give the audience the wrong impression on what to expect in the film.
We will create tension with our titles by using effects like a pulse or glitch effect. This type of distortion gives the impression that the film has a uneasy tone throughout as the titles will be shown at the start.
We will possibly use a font similar to 'The Ward' titles because it looks quite Gothic which is typical in the horror genre as it connotes darkness and horror. We want to use a font that has pointed corners on the letters as the connotes sharp weapons such as daggers or swords
By combining a simple colour scheme, glitch effects and a Gothic font, we hope to be able to create titles that link to our film as well as creating tension effectively.
